The following is a message from Aesthetica Short Film Festival

The Aesthetica Short Film Festival 2012 is now open for entries and I thought that some of your filmmakers and students at Screen Academy Scotland might be interested in submitting some work.

We're looking for films under 25 minutes to screen at ASFF 2012 and it's a fantastic opportunity for filmmakers to broadcast their work to a wider audience. We're very keen to see more work from the UK in the festival in 2012.

ASFF 2012 takes place in the historic city of York, UK from 8 - 11 November. The screenings will cover a wide variety of genres and filmic styles, including: drama, documentary, animation, comedy, music video, thriller, experimental and artists' film. The films will be showcased across 15 iconic locations in the city, from medieval halls to boutique cinemas and in addition to four days of screenings there will also be a series of master classes, workshops and networking with leading industry figures.

The winner will also receive £500 (Pounds Sterling) among other prizes and screenings at a number of other UK festivals and the runner-up will receive £250 (Pounds Sterling). A shortlist of finalists will be included on the ASFF Sampler DVD, which will be distributed with the December 2012 issue of Aesthetica Magazine, an international arts and culture publication.
