Graduate Simon Arthurs' debut feature, psychological thriller Silver Tongues, was given a rave review in the Sunday Herald. Below is the text of Alan Morrison’s Sunday Herald article. Silver Tongues screened at Glasgow Film Festival on Feb 18th and 19th.

“How strange that the best US independent feature debut I ve seen in years should come from a Scottish filmmaker. Simon Arthur moved to New York to expand his short film of the same name, and the end result can be spoken of in the same breath as Neil LaBute, David Mamet and Atom Egoyan. At the centre of this chilling tale are Gerry (Lee Tergesen) and Joan (Enid Graham), who drive around America like an amoral Bonnie and Clyde, exploiting the vulnerabilities of people they meet to fuel their twisted sexual kicks. Arthur too is a master confidence trickster wrongfooting his audience, showing himself as writer, editor and director to be in supreme control of the film s visual style, narrative flow and emotional grip. The acting is exemplary, as Joan grows more despairing and Gerry more psychotic. A breathtakingly audacious work.”
